The Birdbook Anthologies

In 2009, Kirsty and Jon first hatched the idea for the Birdbook series – one newly-fledged poem and one stunning illustration for every species of British bird. After all, there are dozens of poems about herons, eagles, ravens and nightingales, and few about the whimbrel, the ruff, the wigeon and the hobby. It was a huge project, so they decided to spread it over four gorgeous volumes – one for each cluster of bird habitats in the UK.

Paper-cut artist Lois Cordelia was recruited to give the series its distinctive covers, and over 150 artists and illustrators were commissioned over six years to complete the series. The first volume is now in its second printing.
